The software used to run this site is called 'MediaWiki'. The best source for information on how to add, edit or modify pages, how to format what you build here - formulas, outlines, etc, etc, etc is to read the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents help guide at the MediaWiki web site].

This page - the Sandbox - is the place to learn how to use this Wiki software. It's for testing, playing and breaking stuff.

Click the 'edit' tab up top there to see how things are formated.

Iincluded are several many examples. Feel free to use the examples, past them into other pages for your own use. But, please don't change the examples here in the Sandbox. Leave them so others can use them. If you've a new example/modification - feel free to make another section, sub-section and share it.

Feel free to try new things - change what's here - and don't worry about any of it being a problem for anyone.

Xastir is a program for receiving and plotting APRS(tm) position packets. Development is a collaborative effort of programmers from around the world. Xastir supports many map formats and is highly customizable. Check out the [http://stimpy.wetnet-mafia.org/Xastir_V1_0_2_Shots/index.html Screen Shots] link to see just a few of the ways that Xastir can be used.

Xastir runs on Windows/MacOSX/Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/Linspire/HPUX, with many more possible. It supports 125 map formats, several types of TNC's and weather stations, Festival speech synthesizer, AX.25 networking ([[LinuxSoundmodem|Soundmodem]]/Baycom/SCC!) and seven languages!. On Unix-like operating systems, you can run your weather station or GPS on a separate computer as well, which is good for those hams who are already short on serial ports.

Xastir is one of several APRS programs that support [[SmartBeaconing]] and [[CornerPegging]].

Xastir is FREE! under the GPL license and comes with all source code.
